Volunteer : From Near or Far

Be the “hands and feet” that help bring about change in people’s lives and communities.  Here are some practical ways to put your passion and skills to work as a volunteer:

Visiting teams have helped remodel schools, build ecological latrines and break ground on a life-giving retreat and training center for Christian leaders and pastors.  Donated skills and materials pair up wonderfully with the willing hands and hearts of community members.

“The very best part of our experience was working alongside Mexican and building relationships through fellowship . . . I go to help others, but without fail end up being a recipient of the blessings we find in service.”  J.H.

Medical campaigns form a vital part of our strategic health interventions in slum communities.  Professionals and general volunteers alike help provide care and gather baseline information crucial to planning follow up care on both and individual and community-wide basis.  Many new families are drawn to participate because of the newly available services, notably deepening our reach into the community.

“We are doing much more than putting a Band-Aid on a wound.  With the help of ProSalud and the trained counselors . . . our patients for a day have follow up either with the local clinic or for social services . . .  the gratitude of the Mexican community is immense!”  J.R.

Kids' Camp

Community children and youth are drawn in great numbers each summer for fun and learning led by program staff and  visiting volunteers.  Whether telling Bible stories, teaching arts and crafts, singing songs or joining youth in sports-focused day camps, volunteers help magnify the care given to each child.

“I loved seeing the kids and their families . . . seeing their excitement for the program grow each day was awesome!  I was sad to leave but it felt good to know the impact we were able to have . . . in such a short time together.  I am looking forward to coming back!”  A.B.
